Safety, Privacy & Consent

Plain-language version. AltiFenix is in beta; this page will be finalised before public launch. Questions: hello@altifenix.com.

Safety disclaimer

AltiFenix is not a primary altimeter. It is a backup and awareness aid that runs on a consumer Garmin watch whose barometer was not built or certified for skydiving.

Always jump with a certified visual altimeter, an audible, and an AAD. Barometric readings can lag, drift, or be wrong. Skydiving is inherently dangerous, and every decision under canopy and in freefall remains yours. You use AltiFenix entirely at your own risk.

What the app collects

During the beta, AltiFenix can send anonymous diagnostic data so the altitude and jump-detection algorithms can be improved and verified against real jumps. This is controlled by a Share Diagnostics setting on the watch — turn it off and nothing is captured or sent; everything stays on the device.

When it is on, the app records and uploads:

Each watch is identified by a device-derived code, not by your name, email, or Garmin account. Uploads go over HTTPS to a server hosted in the EU (api.altifenix.com) and are used only to develop and validate AltiFenix.

You can turn diagnostics off at any time, and you can ask us to delete a device's data by contacting hello@altifenix.com with the device code shown in the app's About screen.

The email you give this website

If you join the list, we store the email address you enter (and, if you pick one, your watch model and whether you want a beta invite or a launch notice). We use it only to email you about AltiFenix — a beta invitation, or a note when it launches.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. AltiFenix is an independent project by Alex Nemish.
